JNOLA Dine Around
Apr 11 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Dine Around - slider WEB-01

Are you between the ages of 21 and 45? Join JNOLA on Wednesday, April 11 for our annual professional networking Dine Around. It’s completely free, all you have to do is register by Monday, April 2!

How does it work? You register and select your professional field or area of interest and we’ll place you with a group of your peers at the home of one of our generous community members for dinner. You’ll schmooze and dine with some of the most successful and dynamic Jewish professionals in New Orleans, including doctors, lawyers, marketers, academics, and more.

This year we’ve increased the number of houses and professional fields! If you’re interested in the culinary arts, music, and tech, we’ve got a space for you along with the rest of the diverse industries our Dine Around hosts have excelled in.

After you’ve dined with your host, everyone is invited to meet at Cure for an after party! Your first drink is on us as you connect with the other young professionals who attended the Dine Around.

Shells & Shores: A Coastal Restoration Project
Dec 2 @ 10:00 am – 10:30 pm

JNOLA and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) is excited to have you join us in Buras, LA! Launched in June 2014, CRCL’s Oyster Shell Recycling Program recycles shell from participating New Orleans-based restaurants and uses that shell to restore oyster reefs and shoreline habitat across Coastal Louisiana. As a volunteer, you will help prepare the shell for a future restoration. Volunteers will place the recycled shell into bags that will later be stacked on barges and transported to oyster reef restoration sites. By helping prep the shell, volunteers will play a role in creating a new oyster reef that will allow for the growth of new oysters, create new fish habitat, and act as a wave break which will knock down storm surge and allow new land to build up behind the reef.

JNOLA will provide transportation from the Goldring-Woldenberg Jewish Community Campus in Metairie (3747 West Esplanade Ave., Metairie) to Buras, LA at 8:30 a.m

You MUST register to attend! CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP!

Important information:

  • Directions and additional details will be provided to registered volunteers via e-mail a few days prior to the event.
  • Volunteer check-in will be from 10:00 to 10:30 am.
  • Please note the minimum age for volunteers is 14. No one under 14 will be allowed to participate in any capacity, sorry, no exceptions. Minors are required to have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
  • All equipment (gloves, shovels, mesh bags) as well as snacks and drinks will be provided to volunteers.

We require that all volunteers please register to let us know if you plan to attend. If any additional members of your family/friends are attending, then they must also register. You can register to volunteer at the bottom of this page.

Volunteering on our coast is wonderful way to spend a day and we would like to ensure that everyone gets a chance to have a great experience.

  • If, after registering, you find you are unable to attend, please notify us of your cancellation.
  • If the event registration is full, you can be added to a waiting list.
  • If you’d like to bring a group to volunteer, please let us know, and we’ll try our best to accommodate you.

For inquiries about any of the above, you can contact our Oyster Shell Recycling Program Coordinator, Christa Russell, at christa.russell@crcl.orgor JNOLA Manager Tana Velen at

Light It Up Chanukah Gala @ Generations Hall
Dec 15 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Join JNOLA for our fun and fancy Light It Up Chanukah Gala at Generations Hall (310 Andrew Higgins Blvd) on Saturday, December 15 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. There will be delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts from your favorite Jewish-owned restaurants including Saba, Casablanca, and more! Enjoy an open bar while dancing the night away to live music from Eric Benny Bloom and the Oy Veys, comprised of Jewish musicians from Jon Cleary, Lettuce, New Orleans Suspects, Cha Wa, and other local bands. When you’re not busy with all that, stop by our photo booth, sufganiyot (donut) bar, or take a whack at our dreidel pinatas! After the Gala, we’ll keep the party going just a short walk away at the Rusty Nail.

The JNOLA Board keeps tickets to events like these affordable so that those who want to be philanthropic will have room to do so. With that in mind, JNOLA is continuing its fundraising efforts for Second Harvest Food Bank, an organization that fights against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response. Second Harvest provides food and support to 700+ community partners and programs across 23 parishes. 97 cents of every dollar raised goes towards their mission.

For every dollar that’s donated, they provide four meals to families in need which means if you give just $10 you’ll be funding 40 meals!

With our special early bird pricing, you get all that and more for only $18 until December 1! After that tickets are $30, with discounts for students, military, and synagogue employees available so email JNOLA Manager Tana Velen at for those discount codes or if you have any questions.

JNOLA is generously sponsored by the Oscar J. Tolmas Charitable Trust and the Light It Up Chanukah Gala is sponsored by Cox Communications, Touro Infirmary, Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, and Bank Leumi.

Small business sponsorships are available for JNOLA business owners! Contact Tana for more details.
